4 Injured, 2 Dead in Shooting Outside Fort Worth Dance Hall

Two people are dead and four others were injured in a shooting outside a Fort Worth dance hall early Saturday morning.

The owner said the group wasn’t authorized to be there, according to an Associated Press report.

Investigators said a disturbance inside the Studio 74 dance hall in the 2400 block of E. Lancaster Avenue spilled out onto the streets just after midnight. At least one person opened fire, shooting six people.

Laura Reyna, the owner and artistic director at Studio 74, told The Associated Press that there was no contract for the group to be at the studio at all on Friday night and that she considers it trespassing.

Jason Moore, who was working when shots were fired outside, told the AP he tried to resuscitate one of the victims, but the victim was shot in the lungs and died at the scene.

There were no immediate details available on a suspect.

Man Fatally Shoots Wife, Newlywed Neighbor Who Was Trying to Help

An argument the day before Father’s Day turned deadly for a newlywed and expectant father who was shot and killed by his neighbor along with the neighbor’s wife when he tried to help the couple mediate an argument.

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office arrested Placido Moreno-Torres, 47, for the double homicide after he was identified as the person responsible.

A report from the sheriff’s office said witnesses told investigators they heard Moreno-Torres and his wife Amparo Moreno, 44, arguing outside their home and then heard gun shots.

The sheriff’s report said Ricardo Vaca, 20, a neighbor of the Morenos who was married May 29 and described by relatives as a “great son,” heard the arguing and went to the Moreno’s driveway to intercede and mediate between the couple.

The sheriff’s report said his concern appears to be his only involvement in the matter.

The sheriff’s office said Moreno-Torres shot and killed both his wife and Vaca and then fled on foot. Both victims died at the scene.

Witnesses quickly identified Moreno-Torres as the shooter.

Moreno-Torres was eventually found and arrested. He was booked into Lee County Jail for two counts of homicide and one count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and is scheduled for arraignment on July 18.

A Facebook page for Vaca said he graduated from Lehigh High School in 2015 and just got married on May 29. There was also a photo of a sonogram on the page.

Nestor Martinez Vaca said his cousin and his new wife Alma had a baby on the way.

“She’s going to be a girl, they were happily married and he was an amazing person, always happy and trying to make people smile, funny, a good student and an amazing son,” Vaca’s cousin said. “We as a family are devastated.”

Nestor Martinez Vaca said his relative was “the greatest person and my dearest cousin.”

The incident originated at the Moreno-Torres home, according to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office.

According to deputies, they responded to a “shots fired” call at that address and arrived to find two victims who had died from their wounds.

Wife of Suspect Details Domestic Violence Before Deadly Walgreens Shooting

After only six weeks of marriage, Quinisha Johnson knew something wasn’t right when her husband showed up at her job Monday.

Ricci Bradden is an active duty soldier two hours away at Fort Hood, and he was parked outside a Walgreens in Arlington with his wife inside.

“The look on his face and I knew he wasn’t supposed to be there… That’s what was scaring me,” Johnson said.

She says Bradden, 22, struggles with anger issues. According to Johnson, her husband was upset over her new Facebook profile photo she updated Monday and the supposed attention it was receiving.

Johnson says that was it. The photo was enough to make her new husband drive up to Arlington and confront her. She says she walked away from the argument because Bradden was getting heated when she heard him pull out a gun.

Bradden fired two shots, hitting his bride once on the ankle.

At that moment I really felt he was trying to kill me,” Johnson said. “I tried to run into the store. I was screaming. I was telling my managers to lock the doors, because he was coming.”

Anthony “T.J.” Antell saw the scene unfolding, too. Armed with a gun of his own, the 35-year-old Good Samaritan, husband, and father of three tried to keep Bradden from leaving the scene.

Bradden allegedly shot him multiple times. Antell died in the parking lot.

“I still feel like it’s my fault that Mr. Antell died,” Johnson said. “I’m truly sorry and my prayers go out to his family, and I will never forget this man for trying to help me.”

Recovering now, Johnson says she doesn’t recognize the man in the mugshot as her husband.

How could a man that just told me he loved me, a man who committed vows to me, a man who said everything would change — how could he just want to kill me over a picture?” Johnson said.

She said she knows now she didn’t fully recognize his anger and her bruises as domestic violence.

Bradden had hit her before and, in one incident, she says she was choked.

Johnson didn’t press charges.

Nobody ever thinks this would happen to them, because you feel like you can handle everything, but you can’t,” Johnson said.

Bradden is currently in the Arlington Police Department Jail awaiting transport to a Tarrant County jail upon formal indictment by the district attorney’s office.

Funeral arrangement for Antell were announced Wednesday. Services will be held at St. John the Apostle United Methodist Church in Arlington on Friday at 2 p.m.

The fatal shooting of two people at an Air Force Base (AFB) in Texas appears to be a murder-suicide, authorities said Friday.

Two bodies were found inside a room of a building at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, Bexar County sheriff’s spokesman James Keith said.

It’s believed the shooter is among the two dead, Keith said, adding that sheriff’s deputies and other law enforcement officers are continuing to search the building and nearby facilities.

Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland is the home of Air Force basic training. The Army’s Fort Sam Houston and Lackland Air Force Base were combined during base realignment several years ago to become the military’s largest joint base.

Teen Died from Multiple Gunshot Wounds

Adriana Coronado Cavazos (L) and her father Caeasar Coronado (R)

The sounds of heartbreak, a mother’s wailing sobs, poured from a home near Katy Saturday afternoon, where family and friends of Adriana Coronado Cavazos gathered to mourn, pray and sing for her.

The medical examiner identified the 14-year-old’s body on Friday, after it was found in a field in northwest Houston on Wednesday. She’d been shot several times.

Translated from Spanish, Cavazos said: “I lost my two loves, the two people I loved most in the world. My little girl and my man. They are gone and they left me alone.”

Her husband, Caeasar Coronado’s, body was found burned Monday morning, in rural Walker County. Investigators believe Adriana was with her father when he was killed.

They also found his truck burned 50 miles away near Interstate 45 in Conroe, and there police have a major clue: surveillance video showing a man driving up in Caesar’s truck. Then he sets the truck on fire and runs away.

The tragedy is overwhelming and friends gathered for the vigil say the only thing to do is pray.

Cavazos says her husband was a carpenter and had no enemies she knows of. Adriana was a freshman at Mayde Creek High School.
